| About the Virtual Career Center Welcome to the Virtual Career Center! The VCC was created by NWACC’s Susan Holmes and A.J. McDonald and is an ongoing collaborative project created and maintained by the Career Services Center and the Webmaster here at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. The VCC features a customizable student job placement system. It allows employers to advertise job vacancies and career opportunities, browse job candidates' resumes, and (eventually) conduct virtual interviews. Students have access to additional resources about careers, job searches, resumes, interviewing skills and educational resources to help them prepare for their specific career. There are commercial platforms to support such services, and every one comes with a hefty price tag. We decided against any purchase whose cost would have to be borne by students. Instead, we turned to the talents of Susan and AJ, and worked to translate needs into reality. In the fall of 2004, ADHE and the Carl D. Perkins Leadership Grant, in collaboration with the AATYC Workforce Consortium and NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) began a pilot program using NWACC’s VCC to develop a new state-wide job system. The state-wide job system is intended to help students throughout the state have better access to job and career prospects. The year-long pilot program is funded by ADHE Carl D. Perkins State Leadership Grant funds. Participating colleges in the pilot are Mid-South Community College, UA Community College at Morrilton, and UA Monticello College of Technology (McGehee and Crosset). The VCC is an ever-changing site; visit often to see what's new for you! Thank you for visiting our Virtual Career Center. Virtual Career Center
